We can't believe it is was our last day at Kingswood, Dearne Valley - how time flies when you're having fun! We finished our visit with a morning of bushcraft; learning how to build shelters, find wild food, use knives safely to make a tent peg and use nettles to make ropes. After our final lunch we said our goodbyes to all the super instructors and boarded the bus for home! Thank you to Mr and Mrs Dawson and Mrs Orme for helping to make our trip such good fun - a great time was had by all!
Lots of fun was had by all today with many personal challenges met and even beaten. We started the day building shoe trees during Team Tech. Then enjoyed fencing, abseiling and the Leap of Faith. Our final evening was rounded off with our very own Mini Olympics.
Our third day at Kingswood began with us all climbing Jacob's Ladder - well done to Lewis who almost got to the top in the time limit. We had great fun working as a team to solve some difficult puzzles and following the nightline (although we all got a little wet and muddy). The low ropes course had us working together in small groups and we all enjoyed the rope swing. After a very energetic day, we spent a quieter evening designing our own super heros and making presentations to the class before cocoa and a very welcome bedtime.
We have had a fantastic day. The morning was spent pond dipping and learning how to do archery. We really enjoyed exploring the pond and found loads of wildlife including newts, dragonfly nymphs, water scorpions, two types of water boatman and leeches! The archery was good fun too.
In the afternoon the sun came out specially for our canoeing session - a superb time was had by all with everyone working very hard in their boats to play some excellent games. By the end of the session even the most nervous canoeists were standing up in their boats.
We rounded off the evening with a sing song round the campfire enjoying toasted marshmallows.
Arrived safely at Kingswood, Dearne Valley. All settled into our rooms and had a great afternoon doing the Leap of Faith and abseiling. After a super tea of fish and chips or lasagne we all tried orienteering in the dark which was great fun. We didn't keep Mrs Lee up too late either and a good nights sleep was had by all!
