Open Afternoon for Prospective Parents – Tuesday 28th November 2017, 1.30-3.00pm

Primrose Lane is once again proving to be a very popular choice amongst prospective parents who are applying for school places in Reception for September 2018. This year, as there will be fewer families applying, parents are highly likely to be allocated their first choice of school, so please do come and visit us, to see our wonderful school in action.

We look forward to meeting you on Tuesday 28th November, 1.30-3.00pm
Outstanding across the board!
On the 26th & 27th March 2013 Primrose Lane had a visit from Ofsted and were subject to a ‘short notice’ inspection.
It is with great pleasure that I now share with you a copy of the inspection report.
‘Achievement of pupils’, judged as Outstanding
‘Quality of teaching’, judged as Outstanding
‘Behaviour and safety’, judged as Outstanding
‘Leadership and management’, judged as Outstanding
‘Overall effectiveness’, judged as Outstanding
Needless to say we are all very happy to have been graded outstanding across the board. It is the most fantastic achievement for Primrose Lane and one that our whole school community: parents, children, staff and governors, can take pride in.
The attached report gives more detailed information and commentary on each of the key areas and makes for excellent - if not ‘outstanding’ - reading!
October 2017 – Able Writers’ Workshop
Children from Year 6 had an exciting opportunity to take part in an Able Writer’s workshop held at Riverside Community Primary School. The pupils got chance to meet and listen to a talk by established children sci-fi and fantasy author Colin R Parsons. They then produced their own adventure stories. The children really enjoyed the day and produced some fantastic writing.

October 2017 – Harvest Festival
We held our annual Harvest Festival with a wonderful assembly, performed by year six pupils. The assembly focused on the outstanding work CAFOD do to help people who are less fortunate in our world. The school had a non- uniform day where each pupil could wear bright colours to ‘brighten up the harvest’ – this raised £115 for CAFOD. The children also donated a wide variety of food and non-perishable products for a harvest collection that will be donated to the Knottingly Food Bank. Well done to everybody for all your generous donations, these will really help those less fortunate in our community.

September 2017 - Mini Vinnies
Our new Mini Vinnies were chosen this week, after passing a gruelling interview. Congratulations to the newest members: Amelie, Holly, Ruby and Isaac. They will all do a fantastic job representing our school with helping the needy within school, our community and the wider world. Their work continuously fits in really well with the ethos of our school. We look forward to seeing all their wonderful work in the coming year!

September 2017 - British Values Day
We recently held a British Values day in school. Each class learnt about the core values of Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty and Tolerance and the Understanding of Different Cultures and Beliefs. Each class took part in a variety of exciting cross curricular activities that truly embraced our British Values. All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day.

September 2017 - New Student Council
After an exciting week filled with student manifestos, presentations and voting in the Student Council elections. Our new student councillors were democratically elected by their peers. Congratulations to the new 2017 alumni. They will all do a fantastic job representing their classmates and helping to further improve our school.

September 2017 - Education Sunday
We celebrated Education Sunday during a special mass at St Joseph’s Sherburn. The children played a big part in the mass by leading the readings, prayers, offertory, procession and singing. It was a lovely service led by Father McCarthy and greatly enjoyed by the parishioners and our school community.
